About Belvidere
Belvidere is located at the junction of the scenic Delaware and Pequest rivers, nestled in the Highlands area of Northwest New Jersey. The Pequest River is one of the state’s top trout fishing streams. The Delaware River offers a variety of water sports including boating, canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing. Belvidere was founded in 1777; the town received its name from Robert Morris, signer of the Declaration of Independence and financier of the Revolution. Serving as the seat of county government, the community also features a cluster of antique shops, eateries, a county museum, a popular theatre, and retail establishments. Belvidere has more certified historic and Victorian structures per square mile than any other New Jersey town. The town celebrates its heritage during annual Victorian Days.
