Sharon Hill is a borough in southeastern Delaware County. The population was 5,468 at the 2000 census. The borough is ideally located for easy access to metropolitan Philadelphia with nearby Interstate highways and convenient transportation by bus, trolley and train. Philadelphia International Airport is just minutes away. Sharon Hill is primarily a historic, residential community that features developments of single-family homes, twins and row homes. Many of the homes are over fifty years old and some are 75 to 100 years and over in age. Sharon Hill takes pride in their well-kept parks, playgrounds and recreational areas. The township is in close proximity to the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, the last fresh water tidal basin on the Delaware River. Situated in Tinicum, the refuge features 1,200 acres of plants and wildlife plus nature walkways and trails. Public school students attend the following: elementary and middle school students attend Sharon Hill School and high school students attend Academy Park High School.
