The town of Woodbridge is one of the wealthiest towns in Connecticut, ranking 16th in the state in terms of per capita income, and is home to many of the faculty of Yale University. Although the community supports limited light industry, the character of the town is primarily residential and suburban. Many commuters have been attracted to the small-town atmosphere of Woodbridge. Recreational opportunities range from beaches and water sports to hiking, biking, sports play, tennis, and golf. The town has an vast system of preserved hiking trails open to the public; particularly the 93 acre Alice Newton Street Memorial Park and the 22 acre Wepawaug Falls area.
